Using your stamp

Can I use the stamps without the press?

It's possible, but it's a lot harder. The design discs are designed specifically for the 321 Cookie Press. Without it you'll need to press the disc evenly into the dough by hand, then cut the cookie out yourself with a 3-inch round cutter, and lining the cut up neatly with the design takes a steady hand.

The press cuts and stamps with the design always centered, so it's what we recommend.

How does the 321 Cookie Press work?

Two motions, not one:

  • Press the outer ring down to cut the cookie shape.
  • Press the center to stamp the design into that cookie.

Then lift and eject the cookie onto your baking sheet with the disc still on. Work across the dough that way, then go back and lift every disc off at once, and bake. No separate cookie cutter needed.

How do I swap designs?

Quickly, and with no tools. The backing plate stays in the press, and your design disc goes in against it. To change designs, push the disc out and put the next one in.

One press works with every design we make, so you only ever buy the press once.

Do I need to use a specific dough?

Any roll-out dough that holds its shape works — sugar cookie, shortbread, butter, and gingerbread are all great. What matters is that it doesn't spread: a no-spread recipe with little or no leavening is what keeps your design crisp through baking.

Soft drop doughs like chocolate chip won't hold a stamped design. Our tested recipe is on the Recipes & Tips page.

My design came out faint or blurry. What went wrong?

Almost always one of four things:

  • Warm dough. Chill the slab before you stamp, and keep it cold while you work.
  • Rolled too thin. Aim for about ¼ inch so there's depth for the design to sit in.
  • Not enough pressure. Press firmly and straight down, without rocking.
  • Dough sticking to the stamp. A light dusting of flour on the stamp face helps it release cleanly.

A spreading dough will blur even a perfect imprint, so if all four are right, look at the recipe next.

Does the stamp go in the oven?

No — never bake with the disc in place. Eject each cookie onto your baking sheet with its disc still on, then go back and lift every disc off before the sheet goes in the oven. If you want the crispest possible impression you can chill the sheet with the discs on first, but that is optional, not required.

Care & materials

Is it dishwasher safe?

No — hand-wash only. The stamps are printed in PETG, which is durable in normal use but can soften and warp in a dishwasher's heat cycle.

Wash in warm (not hot) soapy water, use a soft brush to clear dough out of the finer grooves, and let it air dry. Treated that way a stamp lasts for years.

What are the stamps made of?

PETG, a tough plastic. Hand wash only.

How big a cookie does it make?

Each stamp makes a 3-inch cookie.

Ordering & shipping

How much is shipping?

Shipping is free on any order of 2 or more items, or any order of $35 or more. A single item under $35 is a flat $7.99. We ship within the US only right now.

How long will my order take?

Made to order in Illinois — most orders print the same day and ship the next. Busy stretches can add a day or two, and delivery time after that depends on the carrier.

Do I need a press for every design?

No. One press, unlimited designs — the press is the reusable base and the discs swap in and out. Most customers buy the press once and collect designs from there.

What's your return policy?

Our promise: if anything arrives wrong or damaged, tell us within 30 days with a photo and we'll remake it or refund you, whichever you prefer. You never ship anything back.

This covers every product: ready-made, custom, personalized, logo and the Press. We don't offer refunds or remakes for a change of mind. Full refund policy.

Can I order in bulk or wholesale?

Yes — for events, corporate gifts, or reselling in your shop. Bulk orders are quoted individually, since pricing depends on quantity, how many different designs are involved, and your deadline.

Send us the details on the Bulk & Wholesale page and we'll come back with a quote and a ship date.

Custom designs

How do custom stamps work?

Upload a photo or just describe what you want. You'll see a preview of both the stamp itself and what the baked cookie will look like before you buy — generate as many options as you like and add whichever ones you want to the cart.

Start on the Custom Cookie Stamp page.

What kind of photo works best?

A clear, well-lit photo with your subject filling most of the frame and a simple background. Faces, pets, and single objects work beautifully.

Busy group shots and fine background detail don't — a cookie is three inches across, so small detail gets lost. When in doubt, simpler is better.

Can I upload a logo or a character?

You can upload artwork you own or have permission to use, including your own business logo. We can't reproduce trademarked brand marks, licensed characters, or copyrighted artwork that isn't yours.

Who owns my custom design?

Designs created through our custom designer become the property of 321 Cookie, and we may add them to our ready-made catalog for other customers to buy.

You're free to use your stamp however you like — this just means we can offer the design in our shop as well.

Can I reorder the same custom design later?

Yes. Email us your original order number and we'll reprint the same design — no need to recreate it.
